Hot Tails

This week's restaurant feature is Hot Tails! There are two locations for this unique restaurant; one is in New Roads, La and the other is in Prairieville, La. The restaurant is impressive because they incorporate a slight spiciness in everything they serve. The food is not overly spicy; however, during Crawfish season, you can choose your heat level, which is freaking incredible. Yesterday I had the pleasure of dining in at their Prairieville. Hot Tails is a Cajun restaurant that serves pasta, gumbo, and fried seafood. I ordered their fried catfish, red beans & rice, and of course, my go-to old-fashioned cocktail. The fish was uniquely battered with flour instead of cornmeal. The texture was crunchy with a slight kick of heat. The red beans and rice were the showstopper. Although they did not have any meat in them, they were very flavorful and topped with pepperoncini peppers. The pepperoncini peppers added the perfect amount of heat without overpowering the flavor of the red beans.Additionally, Hot Tails sell its signature sauces at both restaurant locations. The specialty sauces are tartar, swamp, and cocktail. The price point was $8-$36, and the restaurant also has a full bar. My old-fashioned cocktail was potent yet promising. I will most definitely be going back to Hot Tails!
